reference to toddler sleeping problems ?

Question:
Another thing that works for us is , books on tape. What is FERBER??

Answer:
I have a 2 year old boy. Since birth, this child has had a hard time sleeping. Yeah, he slept through the nite when he was supposed to until he was 9 months. Every since, he has woke in the nite. Now he is in a big bed and every nite we have a battle of the bedtime. We were laying down with him until he goes to sleep but lately we have been trying something else that really works!!

G. loves to read books. Every nite (after our bath and story routine) we give him a few books and a couple of toys and put him in bed. He reads and plays in bed and eventually falls asleep (with the lights on). He is generally pretty quiet (not to wake his 10 month old sister). IT REALLY WORKS!! He might get up a couple of times, that's when he is bored and needs new books...but it works!! My 10 month old has always put herself to sleep and has no sleep problems. I think this kind of thing is part of the childs personality and not a reason to leave them in their rooms/beds to "cry it out"!!

I HATE FERBER!!!!!! I know it works for some but that book is in my trash!! My mother bought that book for me and I tried it. G. would cry for 2-3 hours without stopping or sleep!! I cannot stand to let a child cry for no reason...what does that show the child!

Children's Sleep Specialist His book is for those with TRUE SLEEP DISORDERS. Don't forget, not every thing is a DISORDER. Some find it effective, some not. It's not for everyone, nor should people use his methods without reading the bood first. The book is called "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems."
