Question:
Has anyone experienced insomnia with lexapro? I started it at 10mg
almost 2 weeks ago. I think it has helped me although I am
experiencing insomnia nightly. I have never had problems with sleeping
before. I took Paxil for 3 years with no problem sleeping. Does this
go away? If anyone has any thoughts or experience with this problem
please let me know. I never realized what a horrible thing insomnia
can be.
Answer:
thats one of the side effects listed in the insert. discuss it with your
pdoc
I take Lexapro (10mg/day, in the morning), and don't experience insomnia -
but, I take Unisom every night (for several years, not a good thing to do,
don't get started on this.) HOWEVER, I seem to dream much more than before,
and the dreams are very vivid (which is sometimes a pleasant thing.) The
problem is that, due to all the dreaming, I don't seem to get enough "deep"
sleep...and so I often feel tired the next day.
Interestingly, I've recently started taking Ritalin (for ADD symptoms), and
this seems to help me sleep better (I dream less). Except for last night,
though - I had some really wacky dreams all night long.
This is driving me crazy. I can't sleep at night. I have these racing
thoughts going through my mind and my body won't stay still long enough
to get comfortable so I'm constantly tossing and turning. This all
started when I switched anti-depressants last month. My doctor started
me at a whopping 20mg and then halfed my dose. I'm still having those
vivid dreams. This really sucks. I just want to sleep a solid 8 hours
like I used to.
How are things going with you these days? Are you still on the
Lexapro?
Sounds like Lexapro might not be the right medication for you. What
were you on before? Why did you switch?
I have the same problem of lack of deep sleep with the lexapro...i
think i might have to switch meds although I have been on lexapro for
almost 7 months now
