chronic insomnia HELP! ?

Question:
Does anyone out there have any suggestions to help chronic insomnia. I have been to sleep labs, taken numerous medications, antidepressants, antianxiety drugs and still have chronic insomnia. The only things that work are, at least for me are..... lots of chloral hydrate, clonipin, seconal, ambien is not very effective, dalmane has a huge half-life and doesn't work usually, sonata is useless, halcion, and the rest are all so addicting........ anyone, please help! I will pay a large sum of money. I also tried 5-htp, tryptophan, melatonin, and everything else. ANYONE TAKING STABLON OR TIANEPTINE FOR DEPRESSION? Its not approved here in the U.S. When does Cymbalta come out, anyone ever try Zopiclone?

Answer:
Cymbalta is expected to be out later this year, but from the fact it's a chemical sister of Prozac it'll likely be stimulating.

As simple as it sounds.....have you tried practicing good sleep hygiene? It takes a lot of discpline so some people dont' even bother trying - but results can be good if you put in the effort http://talhost.net/sleep/insomnia.htm - money's no issue here.....it's all about self control and discipline.

I used to have terrible trouble getting to sleep and then staying asleep and sometimes I could be up all night. My doctor prescribed all sorts of pills which ended up useless. Then my wife bought a weight loss CD ( by Paul McKenna - British hypnotist). The first part was full of weight loss techniques but the second half was for putting you into trance. She played it at bedtime and the second part, on self hypnosis, sent me to sleep in minutes and I slept deeply all night. That was a couple of weeks ago and I have tried it every night since then - I can honestly say that I have had good deep sleeps ever since and wake next morning completely refreshed. No doubt there will be some sceptics but all I can say is that it works for me - I get sick of the sound of his voice (it is a 20 minute session) but I never hear it to the end of the 20 minutes - I am usually asleep within 5/10 minutes. I really despaired of getting some sleep until no - in fact I posted a plea in this news group asking for help. Any CD that puts you into self hypnotic trance would no doubt do the trick. Try it - you have nothing to lose but the cost of a CD.
