Question:
my pdoc increased my dose from 150 to 225 last week. and now, i'm not
sleeping well at all. even with the nightly nortriptyline. last night i
resorted to 3 mg of Klonopin (my usual dose is 1 mg, a couple times a week),
and 25 mg of hydroxizine, just to fall asleep. and sleep i did, for about
11 hours. \]
i feel much better today. thank goodness i have that leftover hydroxizine,
it's pretty potent.
anyway, i had forgotten that i'd have to do the side effects all over again.
so here's hoping the next few weeks pass quickly. :-)
Answer:
Klonopin and Pamelor are a good
sleep combo. Another good method to overcome the insomnia from
antidepressants is to use a major tranquiler with sedative properties
like Zyprexa at bedtime.
Did you know that Zyprexa is sold on the street as something called
"lillypads?"
Because they are made by Eli Lilly...the same wonderful people who
brought you Prozac.
And guess what, genius? Eli Lilly makes a pill called Symbyax which
is Zyprexa and Prozac combined. Its to treat Bipolar depression.
Zyprexa has anti-depression effects ( negative symtoms ) in people who
take it. Personally, I think its a great pill to take when your in
mental torment and can't get to sleep. Hell, its a good pill to take
when your in pain...because its a *traquilizer*.
And if Prozac causes insomnia, Zyprexa is a good pill to counter it.
I know this from experience. And other people know it as well.
Its also not uncommon for doctors to prescribe low doses of
anti-psychotics to treat depression and pain. Flupentixol ( Fluxanol
® ) is a good example of this. Flupentixol is kinda like jumpstarting
your mind with an external battery. I really feel sorry for people
that depressed.
Anyway, I don't pay mal-practice, because I'm not a doctor. But
neither am I an idiot.
Just giving the chap who posted his question some advice. BTW, his
doctor is
I know all about zyprexa...dumbass. You are a stupid fuck. Its bad advice to
use atypical anti-psychotics for "sleeping pills" due to the dangerous side
effect profile of atypical APs. Ever heard of EPS? TD? Atypical AP induced
diabetes and obesity? Using atypicals such as zyprexa for insomnia is kind of
ridiculous and is a dangerous thing to do. Drugs such as zyprexa are extremely
dangerous drugs to take if you are primarily mood or anxiety disordered.
Its been proven that those with mood disorders are more susceptible to
neuroleptic induced EPS and TD than schizophrenics are.
There are many, many non anti-psychotic drugs to use for insomnia. These drugs
are safe and do not cause EPS and TD. Remeron is one...its outstanding for
severe insomnia.
